In the eastern Ukrainian towns of Kupiansk, Izyum, and Balakliya, which have recently been reconquered by Ukrainian forces, stories of arbitrary detentions and torture by the occupiers come to light. Mykhailo Chindey, 67, has recently started to walk again. His arm, in a cast and sling, is a painful reminder of the Russian presence in the city.
