Description
The Danish government's plan to abolish a public holiday to fund the defence sector jeopardises the country's precious labour market model. This is the concern of FH, Denmark's trade union confederation, whose president says the "proposal to remove a public holiday is completely unfair" and that "politicians should stay out of the matters that relate to labour." The desired increase in spending is an attempt to hit a NATO objective to direct 2% of GDP towards defence by 2030, a deadline that has been pulled forward by three years in light of the war in Ukraine.
