Description
The coffin of Brazil's football legend Pele leaves the Albert Einstein Israel Hospital in Sao Paulo, where he died on December 29 at the age of 82, after a battle with cancer. The funeral procession heads to Santos FC's Urbano Caldeira (Vila Belmiro) stadium for a 24-hour vigil, where a flood of fans, politicians and football personalities come together to pay tribute to the player known as 'the King'. A massive funeral procession continues through the streets of Santos, as Pele's coffin - wrapped in the black and white flag of Santos and the green and yellow flag of Brazil - is placed on a fire truck for the final parade. The funeral procession ends at the port city's Memorial Cemetery, near the stadium, where Pele will rest in a 10-storey mausoleum that holds the Guinness World Record as the world's tallest cemetery.
