Description
The international community must help Pakistan recover from last year's devastating floods and boost climate resilience, or the country will be locked in misery, Achim Steiner, the head of the United Nation's development agency tells AFP. Pakistan is still reeling from the unprecedented monsoon floods unleashed last August, which at one point submerged a third of the country, killing more than 1,700 people and affecting some 33 million others. Steiner estimates that "$16 billion will be required in this initial phase" to invest in "reconstruction and recovery". IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
