The demolition of the "Signal" building, which has become a symbol of the receding beaches on France's Atlantic coast, begins in Soulac-Sur-Mer, southwestern France. "Up to 50,000 homes, dwellings, up to 750 businesses will be affected in one way or another, and dozens of kilometres of infrastructure will be affected by the end of this century by this erosion of the coastline," says the Minister of Ecological Transition, Christophe Béchu IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
