Description
Beijing says China "firmly opposes" a possible visit to Taiwan by US deputy assistant secretary of Defence.
"We firmly oppose official and military contacts between the US and Taiwan. This position is consistent and clear," says Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin.
Michael Chase, the US Department of Defense's top official on China, will travel to Taiwan after his current visit to Mongolia, the Financial Times reported Thursday evening. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
