Description
Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva launches the Bolsa Familia welfare payment for Brazil's poorest families. The program guarantees a minimum income of 600 reals (approximately 115 US dollars) to families, one of his main campaign promises. Under the administration of right-wing Jair Bolsonaro, the emblematic program was renamed Auxilio Brasil. Lula's government, rebranding the program to its original name, has promised to give 150 additional reals (approximately 29 US dollars) for each child under 6 years of age. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
