Description
"If this didn't exist, I think that some days I would have to skip a meal": like 19-year-old Noa, more than 200 people queue for free groceries at a university in Rennes, western France. 95% of the products on offer at the "free grocery store" are the unsold items from supermarkets and surplus from local communities, which allows the charity to fight food waste while also helping those in need. "Last year, 35 tonnes of food that we saved went into these student baskets," says Benoit Foliot, a volunteer. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
