Trade unions demonstrate in front of the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) in Sao Paulo as the bank is expected to keep its key interest rate unchanged despite pressure from the government to lower it. The current rate level of 13.75% is one of the highest in the world. The BCB's Monetary Policy Committee will release its decision at the end of its second meeting of the year, which starts today.
