Description
King Charles III's visit to France has been postponed, anounces the Elysée Palace, the day after a ninth day of demonstrations ended in unprecedented violence. The king was expected in Bordeaux, where the porch of the city hall was set on fire. This visit, which could now take place "at the beginning of the summer" and revives the "strong links" between Aquitaine and England, explains Guilhem Pépin, a specialist in English Aquitaine. For three centuries, England ruled the Bordeaux region, imported its wine and left a mark that is still very much alive; a large British community. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
