Description
Hundreds of displaced Muslims, fleeing attacks by M23 rebels, now live in the Munigi displaced persons' camp, north of Goma, in eastern DR Congo (DRC). It is located about 10 kilometres (6 miles) from the front line. They are observing Ramadan in an environment with little food or access to fresh water, breaking their fasts with whatever meagre rations they have. “It's difficult. Every day is rice and beans, one meal,” says one displaced man. “We break the fast together at the mosque with the little food we find," says a woman who fled the conflict zone with her husband and ten children.
