Description
For the Finnish political scientist Mikko Majander, 'the economy was a decisive factor' for voters in Sunday's tight general election which saw Finland's centre-right party claim victory, the far-right post a record score to come in second and Prime Minister Sanna Marin's Social Democrats finishing third. But according to him, Marin's defeated centre-left party could be part of the new coalition, as a broad coalition between the Social Democrats and National Coalition "would be better able to guarantee stability in the labour market, and perhaps social peace more broadly, than a very hardline right-wing government."
