"This has never happened before," says Thierry Fremaux after the announcement of the official selection of the Cannes Film Festival, marked by the presence of six female directors vying for the Palme d'Or. "I have as much pleasure or, in any case, commitment in saying that when there are female directors, it is thanks to their films and when there are more male directors, it is because it did not happen, so it is not a selection criteria," emphasised the festival director.
