Images outside of the Palais de Justice in Dakar, as the appeals trial for opposition leader Ousmane Sonko is due to begin. Sonko, who was accused of defamation, was handed a two-month suspended sentence in the court case at the end of March. The plaintiff is now appealing the sentence, after the prosecution called for a two-year jail term, with only one year suspended. Sonko's fate is also wrapped up in another case in which he is accused of rape, which he contests. IMAGES
