Description
The dismantling of the Bugaled Breizh trawler begins at the Brest naval base in western France, more than nineteen years after its mysterious sinking which cost the lives of five sailors. The 24-metre vessel sank in one minute in 80 metres of water on 15 January 2004, while fishing off Lizard Point, Cornwall. The French court dismissed the case, while the British court ruled that it was a fishing accident. According to the victims' relatives, the Bugaled Breizh was sunk by a submarine that got caught in its fishing gear. A Nato military exercise involving several European and American submarines was taking place in the area at the time. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
