Turkey unveils the Russian-built Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, the country's first, in southern Mersin province where building started in 2018.
The plant did not sustain any damage from the recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake, one of the deadliest in modern Turkish history, and officials in charge of the project, say it is designed with the officials in charge of the project saying it is built to withstand disasters.
"Although we had an earthquake of magnitude 7, there was nothing, and this is the guarantee that we were given. And I don't think our government would take that kind of risk," also says local plant employee Erdem Varim.
