Twenty-nine years after Kurt Cobain died, a Fender electric guitar played and broken by the Nirvana lead singer is exhibited in California, before it goes on "Music Icons" auction sale in New York on May 20th. "Kurt Cobain, when he was on stage, when he played, he was a machine, the man was angry, and you could feel that on stage. And you would feel that by the way he would treat his instruments, and he'd get out there, he would break his guitars at the end of shows,” says Julien's Auctions representative and auction organizer Kody Frederick. “This broken element in a strange way from this broken musician, that really defined this, this rough and tumble era of music,” he adds.
