In the village of Reda, close to Faenza in Italy's northeastern province of Emilia Romagna, 84-year-old farmer Giovanni Frega could only look on forlornly as he show AFP his now-ruined crops, flooded by the overflow from a canal and river near his fields. His farm is just one of many reeling from what has been described as Italy's worst floods in a century, killing 14 people and left thousands stranded in waterlogged homes or in evacuation centres.
