Description
A school opened by Sir Edmund Hillary in the Everest region in 1961 celebrates the 70th anniversary of his first summit of Mount Everest along with a fellow Nepali sherpa Tenzing Norgay on 29 May 1953 by opening a new Sir Edmund Hillary Visitor Center. Kanchha Sherpa, the last surviving member of the expedition, attends the closing ceremony in Namche Bazaar, considered to be a gateway to Everest. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
