A spokesperson for China's foreign ministry says 'any attempt to smear China... will not succeed' when asked about overseas events on Sunday to mark the 34th anniversary of Beijing's bloody crackdown on Tiananmen Square protesters in 1989.
It adds that it's 'strongly dissatisfied' with the signing of a US-Taiwan trade deal and has lodged 'stern representations' with the United States on the deal. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
