Description
"People all around, bloodied faces, arms, severed arms... it was chaotic" says Anubhav Das, a young geology researcher who was sitting in the last carriage of the Coromandel Express when it was involved in a three-train crash late on Friday. He recalls the "war-like situation" he and other surviving passengers witnessed after the accident in India's eastern state of Odisha, which authorities say has killed at least 288 and injured hundreds more. "The impact was so devastating and so, so strong, that there were even bodies which were flown across over 30, 35 metres away from the railway track, and that was a site of extreme, extreme disaster," he tells AFP.
