Following repeated droughts, Canadian farmers are having to adapt to a new era in agriculture marked by warming -- including trapping snow on fields, planting heat-resistant crops and seeding earlier in the season. "We can try to plant some varieties that might be more tolerant for the heat but there is not a lot we can do once it's in crop," says Ian Chitwood, an Alberta farmer in Western Canada.
