Description
The Prague Quadrennial festival of performance design and scenography introduces unique stage design ideas. Running between June 8 and 18, the event, which has been held every four years since 1967, showcases over 100 works by artists from more than 100 countries. It comprises an exhibition of countries and regions, as well as a student exhibition, which are both competitive. Debates, workshops, a performance space exhibition and an educational studio are also a part of the festival. One of the exhibits is the Florestania project by the Brazilian artist Eliana Monteiro, installed in Prague's parks to point out the dire situation of the South American rain forest. Visitors can lie in hammocks made by Brazil's indigenous people and listen to the sounds of the forest using a headset. "It's really addressing many different issues" explains Marketa Fantova, the Quadrennial's artistic director, "people come in for an experience, and we're looking for something that addresses all of our senses."
