Description
As Britain's National Health Service (NHS) marks 75 years since it was founded as the Western world's first universal, free healthcare system, analyst Toby Brown from the think tank The King's Fund, says the government should "think about how they can improve the NHS we have now" and "stop talking about changes to the model". Research carried out by the think tank flagged the UK NHS system as "neither a leader or a laggard" compared to other countries, but finds that "it does do poorly per head compared to countries like France and Germany on the number of hospital beds, on the number of doctors and nurses, on the number of CT and MRI scanners".
