One year after a journey by bus and on foot through eight countries from Venezuela to the USA, Eliezer, 10, and his older sister Elaiza, 12, proudly hold their school diplomas. In New York, their school is held up as an example for having welcomed over a hundred children from migrant families. But it wasn’t easy for some of the children to adapt to a new language, a new country, and a new school: "It was difficult for my son to adapt," says a mother from Colombia, but "he did very well, that makes me feel peaceful and proud to see that the effort we made to leave Colombia is worth it."
