Description
Italian authorities have blocked the Aid group SOS Mediterranee's migrant rescue ship in the port of Civitavecchia, north of Rome, after the ship had just disembarked 57 migrants rescued at sea. "The inspection lasted seven hours and at the end we got notified that the ship was detained for some time," the Aid group's communications officer Claire Juchat tells AFP, adding that the group doesn't know how long the boat will be confined to port. Italy's government has since last year been led by far-right Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, whose coalition -- also including Matteo Salvini of the anti-Migrant League party -- has cracked down on help for migrants.
