Description
The fathers of Julie and Melissa, young victims of notorious Belgian serial killer Marc Dutroux, attend the inauguration of a memorial in their memory. The white garden stands on the very spot where Marc Dutroux held the girls captive for several months. Sentenced in 2004 to life imprisonment, Dutroux, today aged 66, was found guilty on charges including kidnapping and raping six girls and young women from 1995-1996, and the murder of two of the teenagers. "It's important that there are memorials like this, to remind people that something happened here, on this street," says Gino Russi, a father of one of the victims. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
