Description
Rights activists and a number of organizations and countries have hailed the progress made in Guinea towards justice for the victims of the September 28, 2009 massacre, one year after the trial of the alleged perpetrators began.
At least 156 people were killed and hundreds wounded, and at least 109 women were raped in and around a stadium in Conakry on September 28, 2009 and in the days that followed, when members of the presidential guard, soldiers, police and militia suppressed an opposition rally, according to the report of a UN-mandated international commission of inquiry.
