Description
Azerbaijani guards patrol the checkpoint at the entrance to the Lachin corridor which connects Armenia and the region of Nagorno-Karabakh. A sign indicates that one is entering Azerbaijan territory. Internationally recognised as part of Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh, which broke away from Baku three decades, was at the centre of two wars between mostly Christian Armenia and predominantly Muslim Azerbaijan.
