Working as a human rights lawyer is not for the faint of heart in Eswatini, Africa's last absolute monarchy, which was formerly known as Swaziland. Sibusiso Nhlabatsi's mentor, Thulani Maseko, was murdered in cold blood in front of his family earlier this year, in a killing that shocked the world, and has yet to see anyone arrested. "Each day we are living in fear because you don't know what is going to happen next," says Nhlabatsi, who has since taken over the defense of pro-democracy activists in the small southern African nation.
