The Jacques Chevallier, which left the Chantiers de l'Atlantique on 19 March 2023, is the first of a series of four naval replenishment ships (BRF) that will replace the current command and supply ships (BCR) by 2027. Larger than its predecessors (194 metres long, 31,000 tonnes fully loaded), the Jacques Chevallier can carry 13,000 tonnes of fuel and 1,500 tonnes of equipment and support 2,000 sailors for two months.
