The finishing touches are underway at the the Cité internationale de la langue française, before its inauguration on 19 October. Installed in the renovated Château de Villers-Cotterêts in an area of northern France struggling with high unemployment, the permanent exhibitions will look at the origins, evolution and contemporary challenges of the French language, among other topics. 'We have a responsibility to show the language in the process of being transformed ... no subject will be off-limits,' says Paul Rondin, Director of the Cité internationale de la langue française.
