The Venezuelan opposition's National Primary Commission (CNP) officially proclaims Maria Corina Machado as the opposition candidate to challenge President Nicolas Maduro in 2024 elections. Machado, however, has been banned by Venezuelan authorities from holding office for 15 years, effectively ruling her out of the race. "The problem -- the 'disqualification' as they call it, was solved by two and a half million Venezuelans last Sunday, I have nothing more to say about it," says Machado during her acceptance speech.
