Description
Silversmith Juan Carlos Pallarols works on the next presidential baton, which will be carried by Argentina's president-elect on December 10. As the creator of more than 14 presidential batons used by presidents such as Juan Domingo Peron, Mauricio Macri, or Cristina Kirchner, the 81-year-old stresses that it represents a gift from the people to the elected leader. Therefore it is the president's responsibility to meet the demands of the Argentine people.
Made of silver and Argentine wood, this baton has been in production for more than a year and has received the engravings of more than 4 million people. Along with their "taps" or inscriptions, they leave a message for Argentina's next president in a book that is delivered along with the presidential stick. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
