Description
King Tchongolola Tchongonga Ekuikui VI, monarch of the Angolese Ovimbundu Kingdom of Bailundo, visits the community of Camorim in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The 39-year-old monarch participates in various events, including song and dance with residents and the planting of a boabab tree. "He brings hope for the unity of our people," says one resident, many of whom trace their roots to Angola. "Our presence here is to say to Afro-Brazilians that we are here as living roots, roots that maintain our ancestry and our customs," says the monarch. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
