Description
Berlin's delayed and over-budget international airport, which opened in 2020 to heaps of scorn, is getting creative to try to win over weary passengers. A pilot programme at BER is dispatching three good-natured pooches along with two human trainers as on-the-ground stress relief ambassadors. At the start of Germany's autumn school holiday rush, dachshund Benny, black Labrador Emi and terrier mix Pepper serve as BER ambassadors charm the elderly, help fidgety children and calm nervous travellers. Michael Uth, flying to Turkey with his two young children, says the pups gives them something fun to do. "Happy kids is a great start to a trip," he says. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
