Description
The lion, that escaped from an Italian circus Saturday, is "like a pet" insists his handler, as campaigners called for a ban on wild animals in entertainment. "I didn't have any fear that he might do something because he's an animal who is used to people, used to other animals" he added. Residents of the seaside town of Ladispoli, near Rome, were told to stay indoors for more than five hours on Saturday evening while police, vets and circus staff tracked the lion, finally sedating and then capturing him. Eight-year-old Kimba is now back in his cage, with his brothers and sisters, and he's doing well. An investigation to understand the circumstances of his escape is underway. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
