Description
"We expect Israel to adapt its military action in order to alleviate civilian suffering and to allow more humanitarian aid" says German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock as she delivers a press conference on the sidelines of the COP28 climate conference in Dubai. While explaining that a general ceasefire "provides no answer as to how Hamas' terror can end", Baerbock says that "things cannot go on as they are now" and "no one can remain indifferent when thousands of children are killed". Her comments come with the war between Israel and Hamas now in its third month and with the death toll in Gaza spiralling. The territory's Hamas-led health ministry says that more than 17,100 have been killed by Israel's military response to the October 7 attacks, in which 1,200 people were killed and 240 taken hostage.
