The trial of two German men charged with high treason for allegedly stealing intelligence secrets and passing them to Russia's security services during the war in Ukraine is being conducted under "heightened security", a spokeswoman for the court in Berlin says. "We are dealing here with BND information requiring secrecy that is said to have been passed on to a foreign secret service... therefore, of course, special regulations apply here," Lisa Jani tells reporters outside the courtroom where the trial has begun.
