Description
Protesters demonstrate outside the Royal Society of Arts, the venue hosting the London RestartIL Summit for investment in Israeli startups, with one protester being ejected from the venue by police. At the summit, former Israeli Science and Technology Minister Izhar Shay presents his "Next October" project, to develop some 1,300 Israeli startups that will "carry the commitment of commemorating one of the victims or fallen soldiers" in Israel's war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip alongside their commercial activities. The protesters outside the venue criticise the event for having "British investors pouring money into a state that's engaged in apartheid," with one reporting that several RSA staff members walked out in tears, having not been told what the event was. The war now in its third month, began after the October 7 attacks on Israel by Palestinian militant group Hamas that Israeli officials say killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians. It has left besieged Gaza in ruins and killed more than 18,600 people, mostly women and children, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
