Description
A pro-Palestinians rally continues in Cape Town, as dozens stand in front of the High Court carrying banners, waving flags and chanting, as part of a nationwide protest in support of the government's "genocide" case against Israel. This as Pretoria’s top lawyers are in the Hague for a legal showdown at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), where it is seeking to compel Israel to halt its military operations in Gaza. “I think South Africa has taken the right stance and I think it’s the nicest thing in the world to stand up as a South African and be proud of what our country is doing,” says Neil Bell, a protester. The conflict began after Hamas militants attacked Israel and killed 1140 people, mostly civilians, prompting an Israeli military response in the Gaza strip that has killed more than 23,000, according to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry.
