Candidate campaign posters and election information signs appear on the streets of Azerbaijani capital Baku as campaigning begins for the upcoming presidential vote scheduled for February 7. The ruling party nominated incumbent President Ilham Aliyev for re-election, a move expected to extend the decades-long authoritarian rule of the Aliyev family. His popularity is soaring after Azerbaijan's military recaptured the breakaway Nagorno-Karabakh region from Armenian separatists in a lightning offensive in September 2023. "I will go to vote.
