215,900 doses of the malaria vaccine "RTS,S" have been purchased by UNICEF and flown to the African country of Benin in efforts to combat malaria. It marks an important step towards wider vaccination against one of the deadliest diseases for children aged 0-2 in Africa. The WHO announced last week that Cape Verde has become the third African nation to be declared malaria-free, even as the disease continues to kill hundreds of thousands of people on the continent.
