Description
Thousands of people gather in the Slovak capital on Thursday night to protest against proposed criminal code reforms that would weaken anti-corruption powers, ease the penalties for it and get rid of protection for whistleblowers. The plans come after Prime Minister Robert Fico argued that the prosecutor's office had been biased and treated his ministers unfairly. The reforms have been criticised by Slovak President Zuzana Caputova and the European Union. According to police, some 26,000 protesters turned out in Bratislava, one of whom says "that's all we can do, to gather here and show resistance against what these bandits who have come to power are doing."
