To mark International Green Week, the major agricultural trade fair held every year in Berlin, several thousand people demonstrate in the streets of the German capital in favour of GM-free, rural and sustainable agriculture. The demonstrators, among them farmers and breeders from small farms, held up placards opposing the use of genetic engineering and pesticides and demanding organic farming for "a greener and healthier life". The slogan of this year's demonstration, organised by the "We are fed up !" alliance, was "Good food needs a future". According to the organisers, around 8,000 people took part. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
