France's President Emmanuel Macron has arrived on a two-day state visit to Sweden, which is on the cusp of becoming a NATO member following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The visit is largely dedicated to discussions on the future of European defence and support for Ukraine. During a joint statement with the King of Sweden, Carl XVI Gustaf, Macron says that his state visit would be an opportunity to "confirm a new stage" in the "closer ties" initiated since 2017 between the two countries.
