Russian President Vladimir Putin laments that international officials have perverted the idea of Olympism, declaring that competitions without Russian Olympians are "uninteresting". Speaking to his supporters, including members of the United Russia party, Putin also claims that a "group" of Moscow’s servicemen "captured 19 houses and are successfully holding them," on the outskirts of the east Ukrainian town of Avdiivka.
