Description
A 24-hour field hospital opens in the Brazilian capital of Brasilia, receiving dengue patients amid a rising caseload in the country. "We don't have hospitalized patients. We provide primary care," says Mauricio Braga, the Deputy Director of Air Force Health. In the first four weeks of 2024, probable cases of the mosquito-borne disease were four times higher than the same period last year, according to the latest figures available from the Brazilian Health Ministry's database.
The government has announced that a free vaccination campaign targeting 3.2 million people will take place in February, with priority given to children aged 10 to 14, the group with the highest number of hospitalizations. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
