Bulgarian farmers join EU-wide protests by blocking roads with their tractors to demand higher subsidies, better prices for their produce, an easing of restrictive EU regulations and an end to the imports of farming products from Ukraine. "Over the past two to three years it's been some kind of hell. We are on the edge," one farmer tells AFP, whilst another complains that the authorities "slap various new restrictions on us almost daily that do not allow us to be competitive."
