Istanbul's incumbent Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu on Tuesday evening rallied a crowd for his re-election campaign, five days before Turkey will head to the polls for local elections. On March 31 he will be up against Murat Kurum, candidate of the ruling AKP party of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Imamoglu’s 2019 victory was seen as a crucial moment for the CHP (Republican People's Party) and made him a political enemy of Erdogan. 'God is my witness and so are you: I won't take a step back.
